E-mail communications and online service delivery are integral parts of the way we deal with our affiliates across the country. Therefore, we require all of our affiliates to have Internet and e-mail access.
At 1st Global we recognize the importance of keeping your technology up-to-date to meet today's standards for communication. E-mail is the main method of communication in the financial services industry today. Is your e-mail up to the standard?
Whether you are a 1st Global affiliate or not, here are some guidelines that you should follow for your business:
-
Make sure you have a business class (non-proxy) Internet service provider. ISPs like America Online may be easy to use, but they sacrifice the functionality that businesses need. One major issue that you will find with AOL is that you may be limited to one file attachment per e-mail message.
-
Do not use free e-mail services like Hotmail or Yahoo for your primary business e-mail. These services are not intended for such use and state clearly that they make no promise to deliver your e-mail accurately and reliably. These tools may be nice to have as a backup when you are on the road, but your business communications should not be left to chance.
-
Make sure your e-mail software can read and display HTML format messages. Outlook is a great package for today's e-mail. If your e-mail software can only read plain text, you are missing out on the bigger picture. Upgrade now to find out what you've been missing.

Make sure all staff members have their own separate e-mail addresses. This makes for much more effective communications. |
